ACCESSIBLE 2.0 – A COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF AGRIBUSINESS IN ŁOMŻA POWR.03.05.00-00-A043/19-00

About the project

The International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża announces that in January 2020 it began implementing the project entitled

“ACCESSIBLE 2.0 – a comprehensive development programme for the International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża”. The main objective of the project is to introduce lasting organisational changes at the International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża and raise staff awareness and competences concerning disability. Activities will remove barriers to access to studies and improve the accessibility of architecture, communication, IT tools and teaching procedures in higher education. Modifications to educational programmes will ensure their accessibility to students with disabilities (KD3) during the period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021 (KD6).

The project will directly support the institution and its management, teaching and administrative staff. The ultimate beneficiaries of the changes introduced through the project are students of the International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża.

The following activities are planned at the International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża:

  • improving accessibility and removing barriers in the organisational structure (including appointing a Rector’s representative for persons with disabilities),
  • improving accessibility and removing architectural barriers (including adapting toilets and entrances to the needs of persons with disabilities),
  • improving accessibility and developing technological infrastructure and assistive technologies (including adapting the institution’s website to WCAG 2.0 requirements and introducing a webpage for the Rector’s representative for persons with disabilities),
  • improving accessibility and removing procedural barriers (including introducing or updating regulations and procedures to make them accessible to persons with disabilities),
  • improving accessibility and providing educational support for persons with various disabilities (including developing a recruitment questionnaire adapted to their needs, providing educational support through consultations with a psychologist and introducing a virtual university assistant),
  • delivering disability awareness training for teaching, administrative and management staff (7 types of training will be provided, with theoretical and practical components).
