European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas
The University of Agribusiness in Łomża is embarking on the task ofProduce so that you can eat it yourself – practical aspects of organic production and its impact on environmental protection”, a project for which the Higher School of Agribusiness in Łomża was awarded financial support of PLN 93,500.00 from the European Union under the 2nd Scheme of Technical Assistance “National Rural Network” of the Rural Programme 2014-2020
The planned operation will consist of organising four conferences during which lectures and demonstrations will be held for young people from agricultural secondary schools, students, farmers, counsellors, rural residents and the Podlaskie Rural Households Group on organic production. Conferences are scheduled on: 29.09; 06.10; 08.10; 20.10.2022r., at the Academy of Agribusiness in Łomża.
The main objective of the operation is to exchange and disseminate knowledge among conference participants on an organic product resulting from organic farming, based on processes occurring in nature while preserving the natural characteristics of the environment in which it was produced. The aim of the operation will also be to educate 400 people at the conference, including a minimum of 50% under 35 years of age, including students in secondary schools and universities with an agricultural profile or related to organic farming. Participation in conferences will reinforce the need to update and extend knowledge, strengthen cooperation between conference participants, establish new intergenerational relationships. Students and pupils should also be involved in this process, as they must be prepared to take over farms and have an educated awareness of managing the environment and producing food so that they want to eat it. Implementation of the project will allow up-to-date knowledge on organic farming, non-fattening plant protection and food security in agriculture to be transmitted in an attractive and participant-friendly manner. It will enhance the reception of the information provided and increase participants' interest in gaining knowledge in this area and their willingness to apply the solutions discussed and presented on their farms. Delivering knowledge in the form of lectures to 400 people on the organic farming system, its impact on climate, environment and bioeconomy will increase interest and awareness among the younger generation on what environmental protection, national food security and organic food production are.
