On May 28th, we opened a crime lab at the Higher School of Agribusiness. Internal security students will learn how to search for clues, analyze handwriting, gather evidence, reconstruct events, and much more. - It's quite a big event for us, for the university, it's very convenient, because from now on, our homeland security classes, or forensics classes, will be held in this lab. Students will be able to use the equipment of this workshop, which means that they will be able to learn how to reveal criminal traces, secure those traces, examine biological traces with the help of microscopes located here or investigate the authenticity of documents, the authenticity of handwriting and much, much more", says Natalia Złotkowska from the University of Agribusiness in Łomża. In the newly created studio, our students will use a fully equipped forensic suitcase, UV lamps, microscopes, fingerprint powder or magnifying glass. We've also prepared a mock crime scene. The opening of the forensic laboratory was accompanied by a conference with experts. - In a lot of TV shows, books, there's this character called the profiler. Today, I want to tell you what it really looks like, because this whole media image has created a lot of myths. There is this idea that this profiler is a person with some supernatural abilities, enters the mind of the perpetrator, sees him almost through his eyes, and here I wanted to show that it is actually a rational, logical analysis of various premises from the crime, which allows you to put hypotheses about who the perpetrator is - explains criminal psychologist Jan Gołębiowski. The students also heard a lecture on modern methods of securing documents. - I've had a lot of situations where I've made up my mind when in the family, even a brother-in-law has taken out a loan or just some A friend of a friend had an I.D. scan. She sent, took a loan and then the consequences are irreversible, because for many years such debts have to be paid back - admits Krzysztof Konopka, president of the Polish Association of Experts and Fugitive Judges.
