Further field exercises of future agricultural engineers' masters.
Implementing the programming content of the Spatial Information System subject (Geographic Information System) in the field of Agriculture, master's students at MANS in Łomża carried out field exercises in the area of Łomża County. Full-day classes were held on 7 May 2023 with the participation of several students specialising in Agrotronics. After a preliminary discussion of the principles of measurement and calibration of the equipment, where an accuracy of at least four digits after the decimal point was required, the students conducted a research warm-up on the premises of the University.
Then we went out into the countryside, first to visit the Natural History Museum in Drozdow and then to the adjacent park, making localization measurements of interesting places: the romantic Bridge of Lovers, the Altar of the Shepherds, Grabowa Avenue with its interesting growth patterns. We also got acquainted with the contents of a commemorative plaque in honor of the outstanding Pole - Roman Dmowski.
In the further part of the route, important places in the communication layer of the spatial information system were explored and the possibility for farmers to reach meadows on the other side of Narwi in Rakowo-Cchachy.
The next area to be measured was the national memorial site of Hill 126, where we paid homage to the heroes of the 1939 Battle of Vistula. We continued measurements and observations of the junction of the Bibra with Narva and the characteristic spills in that area. We observed the degraded and, unfortunately, this time naturally devastated meadows of the former Vishnu Meadows Combine. Driving along the Imperial Road, we traveled along the "Long Luka" nature trail and observed swamp vegetation, mainly grass. Then we hit the biggest attraction of this class -- the moose encounter.Alces alces(laughs) At the lookout tower (53,1798 N; 22,3623 E) rested a young individual of undetermined sex, still without horns...
Returning in the late afternoon, we made measurements of the location of the remnants of reinforcements of the 9th Independent Operational Group "Narev" outside Novogrod.
The culmination of almost ten hours of fieldwork in the forests, meadows and fields of our region was a fire on Pisa, in the vicinity of Nowogród Forestry. We discussed doing a field exercise and summarized the interesting results.
The course and its implementation were made possible by the generous financial support of the MANS authorities. The completed measurement sheets will be used for the next class for the students: Claudius, to Luke, Matthew, Peter and Robert. Thank you so much for working together!
