The calendar of agricultural events in Podlasie included the Days of Fields, which took place on 13 June 2024 in the Station of Experimental Evaluation of Varieties in Krzyżewo p.t. "The Registration of Varieties is an important element in ordering the seed market in Poland".

As in previous years, students of the first semester of the second stage of part-time studies in the field of Agriculture and students of the sixth semester of part-time studies in the field of Commodity Science together with members of the Polish Agronomic Society Branch in Łomża participated in fieldwork.

The aim of the field exercises was to familiarize students with the diversity and agrotechnology of new varieties of crops and to observe experimental plants with cereals, potatoes, beans and industrial plants from the OCTs for the war in Poland.

The students listened with great interest to the information on 'Registered Variety Experimentation in the Podlaskie Voivodeship', which was presented by Arkadiusz Kalinowski, Director of the SDOO in Krzyzewie.

Dr Wojciech Biniewicz of Luvena S.A. introduced the participants to efficient and economical fertilisation of cereals and maize, while Mr Marek Tyrajski of Omya presented new information on nutrient absorption and soil water storage.

We would like to thank all the organizers, exhibitors and employees of the Variety Assessment Experimental Station in Krzyzewo for allowing us to participate in the Polar Days. Special thanks go to Mrs Iwona Bruszewska, Magdalena Gołębiewska and Barbara Jabłońska for passing on and sharing their knowledge and experience regarding practical information on farming technology as well as the methodology of conducting experiments.

After viewing and familiarizing themselves with the experimental pods, the organizers invited them to a meal prepared by the Rural Women's Circle.

Field exercises were carried out in accordance with the curriculum of Sustainable Agriculture with Agrotechnical Elements and Basics of Plant Production.
