MANS launches a research project on beeswax quality

  • Announcements

MANS has launched a project to assess beeswax quality using WaxoNext screening and advanced laboratory analyses. The research will cover 150 samples supplied by beekeepers.

The International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża has launched the project “Integrated Analysis of the Functional Properties and Purity of Beeswax Used to Produce Beeswax Foundation, Using WAXO Measurements and Physicochemical and Pesticide Testing”.

The project aims to develop a reliable, precise and practically applicable procedure for assessing beeswax quality. The research will cover 150 samples supplied by beekeepers, combining rapid WaxoNext screening with advanced laboratory analyses.

Why is wax quality so important? Beeswax foundation provides the base for combs in which brood develops and bee products are stored. Unwanted additives or chemical residues may affect comb stability, colony health and the safety of the wax supply chain in beekeeping.

The project will contribute to: ✅ improving the quality of bee products; ✅ improving bee colony safety; ✅ reducing the risks of using foundation of unknown composition; ✅ developing innovative methods for checking wax quality.

The project is implemented under Intervention I.6.6, “Intervention in the Beekeeping Sector — Support for Scientific Research”, of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan for 2023–2027.
