The KICRO project, funded by Erasmus+, aims to provide the fruit and vegetable sector with tools to improve knowledge and better identify crop diseases and their causes for sustainable food security1. The project involves six partners from Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and Cyprus who have experience in the fields of agriculture, education and technology.
The project started with an inaugural meeting on 24 October 2023 in Łomża, where the partners presented their organisations, discussed the objectives of the project, activities and expected results, and agreed on a work plan and management procedures. The meeting was also an opportunity to get to know each other better and for fruitful cooperation.
The second work package of the project focuses on selecting the most appropriate crops and diseases for target groups, based on a survey and literature review. The results of this work package will form the basis for developing an e-learning platform with educational materials on crop plant diseases, which will be available in five languages. The platform will be tested by 50 participants from partner countries who will also undergo physical training on how to use it. The project will also organise events and activities to promote the platform and its benefits to stakeholders and the public.
The KICRO project will run for 24 months, until August 2025. The project website and social media will provide regular updates on the progress and results of the project. Stay tuned for more information about KICRO!
