Internal Security students visit Czerwony Bór Prison
On 17 December 2022, students of the third and fifth semesters of Internal Security - under the subjects 'Protection of persons, property, areas and objects' and 'Criminal response measures with rehabilitation elements' - together with Dr Olga Kotowska, participated in study classes at the Criminal Institution in Red Bore.
During the visit to the Penal Institution, the students were introduced to the formation of the Prison Service, the requirements for candidates for service and the opportunities it offers. The Higher School of Justice, which trains, among others, prison officers, was also presented. Next, a film dedicated to the operation of the Red Bore Penitentiary was shown, which showed the specifics of the unit, the areas of interaction with prisoners, as well as ... the legendary past of the prison areas. The students had the opportunity to verify this information during a visit to the "strategic" locations of the Penitentiary. Throughout the visit, the officers were happy to answer all the questions asked about the "brightness and shadows" of the officers' work, as well as the practical aspects of serving a prison sentence. The star of the meeting was the service dog Nala, who had stolen everyone's hearts from the very beginning...
It is not inconceivable that for some students, studying has been the inspiration for their career choices...
We would like to thank the Director of the Red Bore Penitentiary, Lieutenant Colonel Zbigniew Jankowski and the Spokesman for the Press Director of the Red Bore Penitentiary, Major Dariusz Śmiechowski for making this interesting visit possible, as well as all the officers of the Prison Service who shared their knowledge and experience with the students.
