POLA Days of “plant varieties – an important link of food security” with the participation of employees and students of MANS
Following the pattern of previous years, on 10 June 2026 the students of the 4th semester of part-time engineering studies in Agriculture together with members of the Łomża Branch of the Polish Agronomic Society participated in fieldwork as part of the programme on General cultivation of crops and plants.
The field workshops were organized by the Variety Assessment Experimental Station in Krzyzewie, the Variety Assessment Experimental Plant in Marianowo.
Field exercises aimed at introducing students to the diversity of new varieties, plant protection and fertilisation programmes.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Arkadiusz Kalinowski, Director of the SDOO in Krzyżewo, and Mr Inż. Łukasz Żochowski informed all those gathered about the history and activities of the Variety Assessment Experimental Station in Krzyżewo and Marianowo.
MANS students listened with great interest to the introductory lecture on 'The impact of selection of varieties and fertilisation period on quality and quantity of yield', delivered by SDOO employee Krzyżewo, who is also a MANS student, Patryk Górski. The representatives of the companies also shared the results of the experiments carried out at the SDOs in Krzyżów and Marianow, while presenting new products and their application in modern agriculture.
During the 'Polish Days', students spoke with representatives of companies, who presented a rich collection of cereal crops, new multi-component mineral fertilizers and presented their market offerings and practical agrotechnical solutions for individual crop cultivation.
We would like to thank all the organizers, and in particular the Director of the SDOO Krzyżewo mgr. Arkadiusz Kalinowski and the Manager mgr. Lukasz Żochowski, and all the employees of the Variety Assessment Experimental Station who were very kind to share their knowledge and experience in the field of farming technology as well as the methodology of the experiments carried out.
