On 1 June 2024, students of the MANS III semester of Master's degree in Agriculture Direction, the speciality of RES, participated in field exercises on the Energy Market and distributed energy. The first point of field exercises was to learn about the construction and operation of a wind power station located in Wólka Pietkowska. This facility is a transmission-free wind turbine with a power of 0.5 MW, connected directly to the 15 kV network. Students were most interested in the technical problems that occur during the operation of the turbine. They also stressed that in fact there are many myths about wind power plants. One of them is noise – because while visiting the facility, the sounds associated with the operation of the power plant were not burdensome. The second stage of the class was to learn about the construction and operation of a 0.7 MW photovoltaic power plant, located in the nearby town of Topczewo. Students also had a unique opportunity to see transformer stations buildings from the inside, which allow for the cooperation of renewable energy sources with the electricity system. Both types of sources were also compared during the discussions. Practically unanimously, it was stated that from an agricultural and environmental point of view, it is better to build a wind power plant than a solar power plant.
On behalf of the students and myself, we thank you Dr. Hab. Zbigniew Skibko for making it possible to show both renewable energy sources and for valuable information related to the actual construction and operation of such facilities.
