On Saturday 30 May 2026, second-year students of the part-time Master's programme in Agriculture took part in fieldwork as a practical complement to lectures on Environmental and preventive conditions of animal production. As part of the course, the students visited three dairy farms located in Kałęczyn-Walochy, Jawory-Klepacze and Płonka-Matyski.

Thanks to the kindness of farm owners, the students were introduced to the specifics of their farming activities, assessed the environmental conditions in the fields in order to adapt them to the welfare requirements of different age and technological groups of animals, and learned about the preventive measures taken on the farm to maintain high animal health. The students were able to observe the behaviour of the cows in the herd, which gave them a high rating for their well-being and fitness. In each enclosure, the animals were provided with very good living conditions, including efficient gravity ventilation and optimal use of natural lighting in buildings. Farmers attach great importance to the well-being of dairy cows and calves, which results in very good production results.

The farm visits were an excellent lesson in the practical conditions of cattle farming in terms of meeting the environmental conditions prevailing in inventory buildings. We would like to thank the farm owners and employees of Lely Center Łomża for their time and practical knowledge.
