On 9 May this year. Students of the third semester of Master's degree in Direction Agriculture participated in field exercises as part of the subject of energy crops cultivation in the agri-energy farm of the brothers Krzysztof, Ryszard and Tomasz Olkowski located in Pienice, Krasnosielc Municipality. Due to the climatic conditions that have occurred in recent weeks the plantations of the Pensilvanian smithy, giant bowl and prairie spartina as well as the oxytree trees have not yet started growing, so students became acquainted with the 460 kW agricultural biogas plant. The main input to the fermentation chamber is silage from plants of the group C-4 (a giant miscant, a pensilvanian silage, corn silage and grass mixtures with bobovates plants) manure, whey from nearby dairy plants and manure obtained from own dairy cattle farming. The biogas plant has been operating for three years. The main elements of the biogas plant which students visited were: a substrate warehouse, a solid substrate dispenser, a main reactor or fermentor, a secondary tank used to store the potrment and additional gas production, a desulphurization and desiccation system and two motors producing electricity and heat (each after 230 kW). After visiting a functioning biogas plant, students were introduced to the construction of a new biogas plant with very similar parameters located on the same plot. Most students were surprised at what they saw. Dig deep into the ground about 9 metres with a striations on the walls of the fermentation chamber at 8 meters and the diameter of the chamber at 24 m is impressive.
After the visit, Mr Krzysztof and Tomasz Olkowscy answered many interesting questions related to the work and construction of the biogas plant.
On behalf of all visitors to the biogas plant, we would like to extend our sincere thanks for allowing us to visit the operating biogas plant as well as familiarize ourselves with the construction of the next one. We wish the biogas plant to be up and running without any problems, and we wish the new investment to start as soon as possible.
