On 14.06.2024 students of the 4th semester of the direction Agriculture participated in a training trip as part of the subject of animal feeding to one of the most prosperous feed companies in the region i.e. ‘Agrocentrum’ on ul. Elevator 5 in Grajewo. The departure was organized by the International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża and the guardian was the subject leader, Prof. Jan Miciński. The trip was two-step. The first part dealt with the production of feed in the Factory and the second part was held on a farm belonging to the Agrocentre located in Straduny.
Presentations of the Pasz Factory were made by: Mr Dariusz Lemanski and the main production technologist Mr Eugeniusz Zagroda. Students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the assessment of the raw material during the buying-in, quality and type of the manufactured range, production technology and equipment for grinding, mixing, extrusion, expansion, granulation and packaging of feed destined for various animal species, including mainly for cattle, poultry and pigs, as well as for horses and certain domestic animals. Students showed great interest in the Plant. They were very surprised by the size of the production, as the capacity of the plant is the production of 1,200 tonnes of feed per day
The presentation of the farm in Straduny, owned by Agrocentrum, was carried out by the Farm Manager and at the same time by Mrs Lidia Skupska zootechnik. Students listened to the characteristics of the farm, its activity profile, the organisation of breeding, the rearing of calves and, above all, the feeding of dairy cows with an even exciting average yield of 12 500 kg of milk from the cow for lactation. The student questions concerned the feeding system, the type of feed used in feeding, their quality assessment, the setting of nutritional doses, the metabolic diseases of cows, the use of manure and manure. Students also took a look at the rolling stock of agricultural machinery that the farm has and which allows to carry out agrotechnical work on 1300 ha, especially in terms of protection in the feed base of 850 milk cows present there. They also learned that in the future a carousel milking hall and 2 manure tanks of 300 m will be created.³ Everyone.
The students were delighted with the trip, and it was hard to stop them from discussing and asking questions, especially about the latest trends in feeding and keeping dairy cattle. The students received a very warm, friendly, even warm welcome, and none of the questions they asked were left unanswered. Therefore, we would like to thank Mr. Adam Pietruszyński and Mr. Director Damian Lemański and Chief Technologist Mr. Eugeniusz Zagroba for the pleasant atmosphere and warm welcome and for the time spent. We would also like to thank Mrs. Lidia Skupska for presenting the farm, guiding and explaining the main production issues in a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
